"We envision a more just Los Angeles where every person, regardless of race or zip code, has access to safe, welcoming parks and gardens. We design these spaces in partnership with impacted communities and hire local residents to care for them. This regenerates neighborhood economies and ensures each space reflects the voices, hopes, and needs of those it serves.”

About Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust

Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust creates and stewards parks, gardens, and green schoolyards in LA County communities with little to no access to green space. Since 2002, LANLT has created 22 acres of green space and 30 parks and gardens, with nearly 18 more acres in the pipeline. Its model emphasizes deep community partnership, environmental justice, and long-term stewardship—ensuring each space reflects the needs and vision of local residents. From youth apprenticeships and community programs to affordable housing co-developments on remediated brownfields, LANLT advances a multidimensional vision for health and climate resilience through green space access.

Rivian Foundation's grant

Rivian Foundation’s support is helping Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust to complete nine new greening projects—including five schoolyards and four parks—benefiting more than 10,000 residents and 3,000 students. The grant will also help maintain and program 14 existing parks and gardens with free arts, wellness, and cultural events for 5,000+ participants annually, support park stewardship training for local residents, and advance policy change and advocacy to expand green schoolyards and secure dedicated public funding for equitable park access across LA.
