Clark Fork Coalition

"For 40 years, the Clark Fork Coalition has leveraged science-based policy advocacy to ensure western Montana's rivers and streams flow clear, cold, and abundantly. Today, through on-the-ground watershed restoration, community education, and continued engagement in science and policy, CFC is a critical water watchdog, ensuring that pristine waters are protected and degraded streams are restored to their full ecological integrity."

About Clark Fork Coalition

Clark Fork Coalition has spent four decades protecting and restoring Montana’s largest river by volume, which spans 320 miles and supports 85% of Montana’s wildlife—including grizzly bears, bull trout, and golden eagles—while sustaining local economies and cultural heritage. With a focus on watershed restoration, clean water advocacy, and community engagement, CFC leads efforts to rewater dewatered streams, restore aquatic habitats, influence water policy, and mobilize residents across the region. Amid recent federal funding cuts, CFC is adapting quickly to maintain momentum on high-impact projects that deliver lasting ecological and community benefits across one of the American West’s most important freshwater systems.

Rivian Foundation's grant

Rivian Foundation’s support is helping Clark Fork Coalition to advance instream flow restoration by brokering water rights transactions and scaling habitat projects that improve connectivity, water quality, and resilience. The grant will also enable CFC to monitor and influence Superfund cleanup efforts along contaminated stretches like the Upper Clark Fork River corridor, strengthen statewide water policy to modernize outdated laws, and deepen public stewardship through education, volunteer opportunities, and community events.
