"This place is unlike any other in the world, with its sacred history and vital ecosystems. Through our land trust and partnership with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, ONPPI protects these irreplaceable lands, fosters economic growth, and expands access to hunting and fishing land. With Rivian’s support, we are creating a legacy of stewardship and conservation that will endure for future generations.”

About Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative

Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative is a unique community-driven collaboration between Middle Georgia residents and Muscogee (Creek) citizens, working to establish Georgia’s first National Park and Preserve. The initiative protects ecologically rich and culturally sacred lands along the Ocmulgee River corridor—home to endangered species, critical habitats, and ancient Indigenous mound sites. With strong bipartisan and tribal support, ONPPI has helped secure thousands of acres into conservation and is expanding its impact through a formal land trust. At the heart of its work is a commitment to co-management, reconciliation, and long-term stewardship.

Rivian Foundation's grant

Rivian Foundation’s support is helping Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative to launch and staff a fully operational land trust to acquire and manage priority parcels along the Ocmulgee River corridor, support private landowners in placing conservation easements on lands within and adjacent to the proposed park boundary, and finalize a regional strategic plan to guide conservation-centered economic growth in Middle Georgia.
