"Damage from past mining has too often left scars in communities and on the landscape. We seek out opportunities to remine waste to produce responsible metals and restore habitat. Because sometimes we could all use a second chance.”

Rivian Foundation's grant

Rivian Foundation's support is helping RESOLVE, in partnership with Regeneration, to complete a public research project that will identify priority opportunities for "Good Samaritan" cleanup projects at abandoned mine sites in the United States with potential for re-mining while restoring habitat. This project aims to showcase the potential of these sites to provide more sustainable mineral sources while delivering significant conservation, climate and community benefits. By generating a list of "shovel-ready" sites, this effort seeks to stimulate interest among policymakers, Tribes, NGOs, and other stakeholders, creating momentum for reform and demonstrating the value of combining waste refining with ecological restoration.
